MCD poll: Kids seek child-friendly policies

MCD poll: Kids seek child-friendly policies

New Delhi: A group of underprivileged children have come together under the banner of an NGO campaigning in the Delhi municipal polls, seeking promises of child-friendly policies in election manifestos.
The campaign is organised by Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) and the manifesto enlisting the demands drafted by children from varied backgrounds will be released on Tuesday.
"This manifesto will be proposed to be signed by the contesting candidates in the upcoming MCD elections. The candidates by signing the manifesto will thereby be pledging to fight for child rights," BBA chairperson RS Chaurasia said.
Actress Mahima Chaudhary and Punjabi pop singer Jasbir Jassi will join the group of underprivileged children to launch their campaign tomorrow.
The campaign will demand people to elect the leaders who cater to the needs of the children and are sensitive towards the children going missing, trafficked and victimised under certain exploitative conditions, Chaurasia said.
The children will also demand the candidates to pledge to fight for child rights and make policies to curb the problem of child exploitation and ensure education to all.
