Fake MCD teachers’ racket busted, seven arrested

Fake MCD teachers’ racket busted, seven arrested

A fake jobs racket, which secured jobs to teachers in MCD schools on the basis of forged appointment letters, was busted and seven persons arrested on Tuesday. The racket, police said, was being run by a 28-year-old man who is working as a teacher at a school in Wazirabad.
Of the seven arrested, six are teachers in various MCD schools who got jobs on contract basis.
“The kingpin Ashok (28) is a teacher in an MCD school in Wazirabad,” said Romil Baaniya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West).
The arrests came following investigations into a complaint by Kanwar Singh, Deputy Director (Education) of Civil Lines Zone. Singh in his complaint said the appointment letters of three MCD teachers employed on a contract basis could be forged.
Following investigations, Sachin (21) and Sanjeev (22) posted at an MCD School in Jahangirpuri D Block and Suresh (25) posted at a school in Jahangirpuri K block were arrested. Their interrogation led to the arrests of Ashok, Aftab, Sunil Kumar and Santosh.
Sachin, Suresh and Sanjeev told police that they did not have the eligibility requirement for the post. “They were desperately looking for a job and it was during this time that they came in touch with two persons, residing in Haryana. The duo convinced them to pay between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh per candidate and assured them postings as teachers on contract basis in MCD schools in Delhi,” Baaniya said.
Five blank appointment letters, fake seals of Kanwar Singh and Rs 75,000 cash have been recovered from the arrested. Ashok had joined as a teacher in Nagar Nigam Prathmik Vidyalaya, Wazirabad, in October 2005 on contract basis. Police are verifying whether his appointment letter too was forged. All the other teachers except Sachin, who is a graduate, are just Class XII pass.
